The "Service to
America" Summit
The Summit, sponsored by the National
Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation
(NABEF) and the Bonneville International Corporation, is an innovative new program to
recognize and encourage outstanding community service by broadcasters and their community
partners. Leaders of the television and radio industry, non-profit organizations, and
public policy sector will converge for this one-day event June 21st to strengthen and
affirm their shared commitment to bettering the lives of Americans all across the
country. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan, Colin Powell and Don Imus are among the speakers/honorees.

Watch Out For Bad Ads -- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Direct Marketing Association
(DMA) and U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPS) recently announced an initiative to
encourage the media to help in the fight against fraudulent advertising. As part of the
initiative, a booklet
was produced that provides tips to help identify deceptive advertising before it is
disseminated. It also includes common examples of schemes, scams and fraud, how to
appraise and handle complaints, and a list of helpful resources.
