[Do you know about recent attempts to regulate speech restrictions on the net? You should. (VTW, FSF)]

Hello! I'm back in Karlsruhe as of 12 January, and will be attacking the backlog of correspondence presently. Thanks to all who have sent in comments over the past month!

Yours,

Full Listings
The guts of this site. Organized by country, state and city, with comments archived from various sources since late summer 1994.

Summary Listing (without reviews)
Generated from the above by leaving out reviews and keeping only names, addresses and phone numbers of the establishments.

A Glossary of Sushi Terms
Like the reviews, culled from various net sources and sushi menus.

Acknowledgments and Contributors
Thanks especially to all who emailed comments and information.

Other Odds & Ends
Stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else here.

If you maintain a web site or page with a link to the sushi site, I'd like to know. Send me email; if you like, I can keep you up to date in case the site moves (which will probably happen inside of two years).

Listed in Point Communication's ``Top 5% of the Web'' listings (from 30 October 1995).

``How Can I Help?''

Well, the first thing would be to type in where you like to eat sushi and email it to me. If I already have the place listed, then you can use the proveded forms (which make it very easy for me to add your comments); otherwise there's a feedback page. If you aren't able to send mail through your browser (or, like me, prefer to use a different mail tool) my email address is maraist@ira.uka.de.

But really the best source of information about sushi restaurants in from the Yellow Pages. Since I started this site, I've copied full addresses and phone numbers down from the cities I've since been to, which so far amounts to New Orleans, San Francisco and Copenhagen. If you'd like to really help me get complete listings of an area, then please send me either a transcript (by email) or a photocopy of the ``Japanese Restaurants'' listings in the local Yellow Pages. My postal address is:

John Maraist
Institut für Programmstrukturen (IPD)
Universität Karlsruhe
76128 Karlsruhe
Germany

Also, you might take a look at the glossary page, and help me to fill in any holes there. I don't update the glossary as often as I update the rest of the site, but however infrequently, I do update it.

And of course, I'd appreciate it if you spread the word about this site. If you maintain a web site or page with a link to the sushi site, I'd like to know. Send me email; if you like, I can keep you up to date in case the site moves (which will probably happen inside of two years).

I am very open to feedback, and am interested in what you think, so please don't hesitate to write with suggestions or problems you have with the site. Enjoy, and Itadakimasu!

Log of Recent Changes

13/14 Jan. 1996
Finally back in town, Happy New Year to all! Added most of the form submissions and some of the mail.
8 Dec. 1995
Back from Denmark. Added a Denmark page with Copenhagen entries from the Yellow Pages.
26/27 Nov. 1995
Added the new restaurant forms to most of the pages. Received the first replies from these forms; one worked and one did not. ¶ Added an alphabetical index to the glossary as a first step to better (i.e, more automatically) linking the glossary into the individual restaurant listings.
A complete log of older changes is kept separately.

Disclaimer

The primary source for this guide has been the alt.food.sushi newsgroup, plus some personal communications, and for the small number of places where I've actually eaten, my own opinions. The opinions contained here are ostensibly those of the originators of the messages cited at each review, and constitute in no way a recommendation for or against the subject establishments on my part or on the part of the Institut für Programmstrukturen, the University of Karlsruhe, or any body supervising those two.

I can make no guarantee of the accuracy of this information. Prior to exploring any establishment mentioned in these pages, I would recommend verifying both that it is indeed still open, and its exact location.

And of course, updates and additional feedback are welcome and invited!
