Diskeeper Lite^TM for Windows NT® 4.0

Diskeeper Lite is the high-speed manual freeware defragmenter for Windows NT 4.0. It is a permanent, non-expiring defragmenter for the Intel x86 platform. Diskeeper Lite is the only one of its kind. Currently there is no built-in defragmenter in Windows NT.

File fragmentation first strikes insidiously during the Windows NT installation process and continues to spread, worsening system performance each time files are created, edited, compressed or uncompressed. Files are fragmented into multiple pieces and scattered around the disk. As part of the sophisticated design of Windows NT, it can break files into hundreds and thousands of fragments for storage on the disk. The increased disk head seek time and system I/O needed to write and retrieve these fragments for use can slow system performance to a standstill.

With Diskeeper, software loading times and database search times can be cut in half. Performance is increased for Internet servers, e-mail servers, graphics and financial applications. Multimedia and video applications are kept smooth and synchronised.

Executive Software recently announced that Microsoft Corporation will be including a manual version of Diskeeper in the Windows NT 5.0 operating system. Diskeeper is certified as Microsoft BackOffice compatible and it speeds performance for the entire family of Microsoft BackOffice server products.
