N.B.  None of this will work if you're using invulnerability !!


Go to the New Detroit base, enter bar and talk to Sandoval.  Accept
his mission.  When it is completed return to New Detroit bar and 
talk to Tayla.  while working for her, do not destroy any pirates,
tell them you won't tell anyone and they will leave you alone (if
it doesn't work the first time try again).  When Tayla's missions
are complete go to New Constantinople and talk to Roman Lynch in the
bar.  During his first mission, Captain Seelig will attack you when 
approached so leave prepared.  In the second mission when taking 
Regis to Romulus base, expect heavy attacks from Confed.  The third
mission is actually an ambush by Lynch to get the artifact, kill 
Miggs and go to Oxford base.  Talk to the guy in the library and do 
his missions.  When getting Hunter Toth to Oxford (he looks a lot
like Salmon Rushdi surprisingly enough !) take care to stay near him
or a load of retros will turn up to kill him.  This is the same when
protecting the cargo freighter, or it will be destroyed by pirates
(it's OK to kill them now).  

Once you have access to the library, use the computer and analyse
the artifact.  When you've read all the boring stuff, go to Palan
agricultural planet.  Use you're Afterburners (provided you've got
some) to break through the blockade.  Go into the bar and talk to
Dr Monkhouse.  Go to the Basra refinery in the Palm system and talk
to Lynn Murphy in the bar.  Her missions are very difficult so pack
plenty of missiles.  Once you have destroyed the blockade (final
mission with Murphy), land on Palan.  Talk to Dr.Monkhouse again
and transport him to Basra refinery.  There will be a Kilrathi
attack force waiting for you so take care.  When on Basra, talk to
Lynn Murphy and then to Dr.Monkhouse.  When he's finished preaching
about the Steltek, go to Rygannon mining base.  Talk to Taryn Cross
in the bar and do her missions.  In the final mission, in system
Delta Prime, you will find an abandoned Steltek base.  Land on this
and examine the derelict fighter.  Remove the weapon and return to
Rygannon.  Talk to Taryn Cross and then go to the Achilles mining
base in the Troy sector (where you start the game).  Accept her
"mission" and go to Perry.  Enter Admiral Terrell's offfice and
talk to him.  Accept his mission and fly to Blackade point Tango.
On the way you will bump into a very strange looking craft.  This is
the Steltek, talk to it and offer to exchange the Steltek weapon for
something (they want to know where their base is).  They will take
the weapon but programme the drone that you have come to kill to only
take a couple of shots to be destroyed.  When they "teleport" to 
Delta Prime, continue to Tango.  Talk to Commodore Reismann and wait
for the drone to come.  Kill it and watch the nice cut scene.  After
that return to Perry and talk to Admiral Terrell, well done.  You've
finished, this doesn't mean that the game is over, but you found out 
about the artifact and found the "treasure".  By the way, if you ever
talk to Admiral Terrell again he will tell you all of the people that
made Privateer, backed by some funny music.
