Meridian 59 User's Guide
The Options Menu
The commands on this menu allow you to change the way the Action Window looks and sounds.
The top four commands are toggles. Simply highlight the command to toggle it off or on. A checkmark appears in front of the command when it's turned on.
Large Graphics Area
Miss the wide-screen action down at your local cineplex? Turn this ON to make the Action Window quite a bit bigger. The downside: you'll lose some graphics resolution, and a good chunk of your chat window as well.
Animation
Animating all those other players takes quite a bit of processing power. However, if your computer is straining under the load, turn this OFF. Meridian 59 will now run faster, though the animation quality won't be so smooth.
Music
Turn this ON to hear the Meridian 59 soundtrack. Click again to turn it OFF.
Sounds
Turn this ON if you want to hear all the sound effects. Click it again to turn it OFF.
Colors
This command lets you change the color of almost anything you see on the World Window.
The submenu that appears to the right of this command shows the five general categories of screen items whose colors you can change. Under each of these categories is a second submenu, offering specific items that can be changed.
Fonts
This command lets you change the fonts that are used throughout the game. You can take any font currently loaded on your system, and use it in any of the locations listed in the Fonts submenus.
Save Settings Now /Save Settings On Exit
These two commands let you indicate when you want any of the Options commands to take effect.
- Select Save Settings Now, and the Options commands described above will take effect the moment you make them.
- Choose Save Settings on Exit, the changes will take place immediately on-screen, but won't be saved permanently until you leave Meridian 59 at the end of the current session. This gives you a chance to live with your new choices for a while before making them permanent.
