Complex objects aren't
so complex anymore with path-editing effects like punch, combine, mix and transparency.
Blend the shapes or
attributes of objects. Then after you've created the blend, you can change any of its
characteristics and all objects are automatically re-blended.
Choose whatever color
model you want and custom configure it to your preference - all the way
down to multiple CMYK color pickers.
You can jazz up
your strokes, fills, editable text and rules with colors, neon effects, gradients,
textures, hatches and custom fills. Or create 3-D images with tools that let
you lathe, sweep, extrude and change the light source.

TECHNICAL ILLUSTRATION

Technical illustrators made
Canvas 3.5 their program of choice. So we took their suggestions to heart in
designing Canvas 5 - starting with a new interface that's obvious and intuitive.
For drawing things like
streets and railroad tracks, Canvas 5 lets you customize parallel lines and curves, and it lets you create your own dashes, lines and arrows. In fact, any object can be an arrowhead in Canvas 5.

Auto-dimensioning and
the programmable SmartMouse work together to save you precious time, automatically aligning
and marking projections, center lines, tangents, perpendiculars and more.

IMAGE MANIPULATION

Grab an image anyway
you like. Canvas 5 gives you Lasso, Marquee, Magic Wand and QuickMask selection tools.
Once selected, you can
massage it using tools and filter effects like smudge, sharpen, blur, noise, stylizing, distortion, dodge or burn. Canvas 5 even works with any Photoshop-compatible filter.
Fine tune any image
by making precise adjustments for brightness and contrast, hue, saturation and
lightness. Independently adjust shadows, midtones, highlight colors and balance.
Canvas 5 also supports
your pressure-sensitive graphics tablet, and as you'd expect, all the standard tools are
right at your fingertips including clone, rubber stamp, airbrush and more.
Canvas 5 edits and converts
any RGB, CMYK, Indexed Color, Duotone, Grayscale and Bitmap image.
And at any step along
the way, you can see a live preview immediately.

TYPOGRAPHY

Maybe every picture tells a story,
but sometimes you gotta use words. And Canvas 5 helps you make those words sing.
With Canvas 5, you can
program Style Sets not only for paragraphs but right down to individual characters.
Font and paragraph settings
are easily controlled using the Type floating palette.

You can achieve a
smooth flow of text from one column to the next just by telling it to link the text
boxes. Or play with the type, creating dynamic text wraps or binding the text to curves and
shapes. You can even rotate, skew, fill and stroke the text without losing its editability.

PROFESSIONAL OUTPUT

Canvas 5 is a PostScript-based
program without compromise. Whether you use the Macintosh® or Windows version
you'll always get dependable, high quality PostScript output.
Print directly from Canvas 5
or export your illustrations to QuarkXPress or other separators with total confidence.
