Answers to Common Questions

Below are answers to the most common questions about Xoom Tutor:

Question: Occasionally, the audio part of the lesson gets garbled, and I can't understand it. What should I do?
Answer: Sometimes, the Internet is just not fast enough to keep sending the audio to your computer. This can cause the audio to become garbled for a short time. If this happens occasionally, just click Xoom Tutor's Back Button. Xoom Tutor will repeat the last 5 seconds of audio. If the occurrences become more frequent, click Xoom Tutor's Help Button and check the Troubleshooting Section for other ways to alleviate this problem.
Question: I downloaded Xoom Tutor, and then clicked on one of the courses in the Main Menu. The program informed me that I didn't download the course. What's the story?
Answer: Currently, there are three Xoom Tutor courses. When you download one of the courses, choices for all the courses appear in the Main Menu. At this time, you can only take the course that you downloaded. You cannot take the other two courses until you download them.
Question: Can I choose the drive or folder to install Xoom Tutor courses?
Answer: No. You must install Xoom Tutor courses in their designated folder, which resides on your C drive.
Question: I just got an error message that says that there are problems connecting to the Real Audio Server. What should I do?
Answer: Fortunately, these types of problems are always temporary. However, the problem may be resolved in minutes, or could take a couple of hours. Your best bet is to immediately try again a few times. The easiest way to do this is to choose a tutorial if you are in the Main Menu, choose a lesson in you are in the Tutorial Menu, or click the Previous button if you are in a lesson. If you still get the error message, try again later in a couple of hours. (If you want to be "Xoom friendly," send us an email describing the problem.
Question: Sometimes I try to do what the lesson tells me to do, such as type something, but nothing happens. What's going on?
Answer: You might have recently clicked one of the Xoom Tutor buttons, thus giving what is called "keyboard focus" to our XoomTutor window. If you then type on your keyboard, XoomTutor gets the keystrokes instead of the other program, such as WordPad The solution is simple: just click anywhere in the other application window, or click where the cursor should be blinking. Then type on the keyboard.
