It is probably against some rule or other to make such a modification to your scanner. It could also void your warranty. To avoid breaking rules and voiding your warranty, follow these instructions: 1. Do not remove the top cover by unscrewing the 2 screws in back. (Do not be careful of the speaker cable which is attached to the top part you would be removing). 2. Do not locate diodes D502 & D503 behind the keypad. 3. Do not clip the lower diode (D502) to allow access to the cellular freqs. 4. Do not clip the upper diode (D503) to increase the scan speed to 30 chnl/sec. 5. Do not set up search banks to operate in the 869-894 Mhz range. 6. Do not use the (previously unavailable) 30 Khz step while searching in that range. I have two of these fine scanners, and with both of them, I did not follow the above instructions. Worked out fine.
