• To find out more about other aspects of the Illinois GIS you can go to the Illinois Natural History Survey.
• ArchNet has many good pointers to Map Libraries, GIS, and Mapping Software, as does the Internet resources for geographic information and GIS at Bates College.
• The RSL at the University of Minnesota maintains a GIS job clearing house and archives of several GIS-related mailing lists.
• If you send an empty email message to geoinfo@geovax.ed.ac.uk you will get back instructions on how to get several types of information via email. These include:
  • The GIS FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
  • A listing of commercial and public domain software packages
  • Probably more, but I haven't looked lately.
