[About The Guide]
APPENDIX B. MEMORY RESIDENT HELP
A copy of this document is also available in Norton Guide format (the
filename is SDES.NG). A Norton Guide file is an indexed help file that can
be read using a special memory-resident program called The Norton Guides.
When you run The Norton Guides, the program is installed in memory and
can be called up at a later stage by pressing a special hot-key (this
should be displayed when the program is installed). You can then run
SDES and press this hot-key whenever you need help. When you are finished
using SDES, the program can be removed from menu using the "uninstall"
option in its "options" menu.
Alternatively, if you type "NG SDES.EXE", this will load The Norton Guides
and then run SDES - when you exit SDES, though, NG will also be auto-
matically removed from memory.
Note that loading The Norton Guides into memory, won't necessary mean that
the SDES.NG file will be loaded. If you have other NG files, one of these
may be loaded instead and you will have to select the SDES file from the
"options/database" menu. If you wish to make the SDES help load up by
default, then you should use the "options/save options" menu item.
For those of you that don't have The Norton Guides (it is a commercial
application), there are a number of shareware/freeware clones that can
be used instead.
