AGENDA ON THE SERIES3a - PROBLEMS WITH ALARMS On the Series3a there is a problem, which can mean that when large agenda files are changed or compressed, the alarms do not always ring. THE PROBLEM The problem occures, when a large Agenda file (more than around 25k) is in use, and one of the following occures: A. The file is compressed, and during the compression the 3a is turned off. B. An entry with an alarm is entered or changed, and the 3a is turned off immediately afterwards. C. An entry with an alarm is entered or changed, the file is compressed, and the 3a is turned off straight away. In these cases it can happen, that only the next alarm rings. In some cases no further alarms will ring. THE SOLUTION Quite simply don't turn off during compression, or directly following entering or changing an entry. To be really safe, check in the 'Time' application, that the alarm is really set. Using the supplied program, you can actually prevent the 3a being turned off at these critical times. INSTALLATION Copy SYS$AGNW.OPO into the \OPO\ directory. Press Sie PSION-CTRL-CALC to move to the RunOpl icon. Press TAB to start the file selector. Now move the cursor to SYS$AGNW.OPO, and press ENTER. The program will start. The program requires around 2k on the disk, and 11k to run. DE-INSTALLATION Simply press CTRL-CALC, then PSION-ESC to stop the program. CREDITS Program written by: Graham Tappenden, Psion GmbH Based on a program by: David Wood, Psion PLC 04.02.94
