Public Domain

Public Domain is a very nice form of software.
It is for free; you are allowed to change it and
you can use it as long as you want to.

Public Domain software often appears as a program,
but this is not necessary. An artist can
create a nice graphic picture and declare it is 
Public Domain.

Public Domain is the result of yesterday's hackers.
They wanted to make programs and pass them to others
in order to have their programs changed and improved. 
There was only one problem: 
If everybody was able to change at random, how could 
you be sure that the version you received had been 
improved in the right way! Someone might have added 
a virus!
