Phonemes is an HyperCard function (XFCN)

Usage:     Phonemes(englishString)
               …returns a phonetic string

This function takes one argument: an english string to be translated into a phonetic string. The phonetic string is returned by the function. 

Here is an example of how to use this function:

     put Phonemes(englishString) into phoneticString
     if first char of phoneticString = "?" then … -- handle the error
