Area 51 Research Center
The Area 51 Research Center is a private research and publishing company investigating the many mysteries of Nevada's military "Restricted Zone." Our areas of interest include UFOs, military activities, government secrets, desert geography, psychology and philosophy--anything which might assist our quest for truth. Our primary goal is to collect information and make it available on
the World Wide Web. To fund this operation, we sell books and
souvenirs relating to our topics of interest.
The original Area 51 Research Center is located on the frontage road along Route 375 in Rachel (150 road miles from Las Vegas), two doors down from the gas station. Our small store is usually open weekdays, about 8am to 3pm, but all of the products available
there are also available through our mail order catalog.

History
The Area 51 Research Center was founded in Sept. 1993 when
researcher Glenn Campbell was kicked out of the Little A'Le'Inn where he had been
living in a motorhome for the previous six months (See DR#23). Campbell, a former computer programmer, had come to Rachel from Boston to write his Area 51 Viewer's Guide and explore the many mysteries of the area. The reason for Campbell's
violent ejection from the Inn are a matter of debate and varying opinions. Charges included the claim that Campbell was a government agent and that he was trying to "take over" the Inn.
In any case, when the Inn's drunk propriator came at Campbell with a gun, Campbell rented a mobile home at the other end of town and erected a sign out front, and a new organization was thus created for the dissemination of Area 51 information. When the U.S. Air Force proposed the withdrawal of White Sides and Freedom Ridge in Oct. 1993, Campbell and the Research Center became active opponents. The Research Center joined the internet before the end of 1993, and the first issue of the Groom Lake Desert Rat was published in Jan. 1994. The Research Center is now a clearinghouse for information about Area 51 and the human aspects of UFO research. Information is distributed over the internet and through the Center's mail order book business.
