Description of Events
This is going to be hard to remember exactly what happened as it occurred almost 10 years ago. The sighting took place in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada on December 26, 1987 at approximately 1:00 a.m.. I am going to write a detailed description of what happened and then I will list your questions and answer them separately.
Astronomy is my favourite hobby, and I was just learning the position of the planets and constellations at the time. I was in the backyard stargazing when I decided I would go to the front of the house to see the planet Jupiter. The sky was fairly clear and the weather brisk. At this time some clouds had started to move in, but they were very sparse and you could still see the night sky. In the distance, just past our neighbour's house, I noticed a brown object flying towards me. It appeared to be boomerang shaped.
At first I thought it must be a bat - but there couldn't possibly be bats this size! Then I thought it was a kite - but realized no one would be flying a kite in the middle of winter at 1:00 in the morning.
This is where my memory gets fuzzy. As the object drew closer I could see that it was triangular in shape. The object was moving very slowly, approximately 5-10 miles pr. hr. The colour was definitely brown, with darker circles inside. There was no sound, (almost too quiet to be real) and no lights of any kind. The object was slightly higher than the telephone poles and just barely cleared the roof of our house. I would say it was approximately 20 feet in length and 5 feet high. I know that when I saw it my first thought was that it was too small for someone to be inside. When I realized that I was seeing was a UFO I waited until it had cleared the roof of our house and ran inside to tell my husband. I was very scared and would not go outside again. I should have immediately told him to run outside the back door, as he would have seen it going across the backyard - but I didn't. He did look outside after I had told him what I had seen, but it was already gone.
I reported the sighting to C.U.F.O.R.N. (Larry Fenwick, Director). They mailed me a sighting form to fill out and this was done and returned. I also spoke to Mr. Fenwick on the phone for quite some time - they did not receive any other reports of this sighting.
...I suppose it could resemble the Stealth Fighter....at the time of my sighting it was a consideration, however, the object I saw flew so low, and was going very slow that we discounted it at the time. It also was very small, too small for anyone or anything to be inside.
I think it could have been a remote control vehicle, at least that is the impression I had at the time. I have seen the stealth in airshows at the Toronto C.N.E. This was definitely not the object which I saw.
The Stealth is similar in shape but the proportions of the triangle were different. When I saw the Stealth in the airshow, I was surprised at how huge it really was. The Stealth was also much wider at the base of the triangle. Perhaps I forgot to clarify this, when I drew the picture of the head on view, I couldn't get MS Draw to slightly round the corners. The corners were not sharp angles as you see in the first drawing but had softer edges. The texture of the object was not smooth but rather textured in some way, almost bumpy, like the affect paint stripper has when first applied and the paint bubbles up.

Jackie's Sketches
Some questions I put to Jackie and her respective answers:
Was it an equilateral triangle? If not, how would you describe it?
See pictures.
How certain are you of the colour?
I am positive that it was brown.
What material would you describe the object as being made of?
It almost looked like rusted metal but smoother. The surface was smoother than rusted metal, rusted metal being very rough, almost flaky. The surface was textured in some way, but the texture was smooth. This is very hard to explain.... it would be like a bumpy surface, which would be smooth to the touch like bubbled glass?
Did it reflect the available light?
Town light pollution was being reflected up from the snow, that is why I could see the colour of the object. This is difficult to envision if you haven't seen it but it does occur on certain occasions.
How wide and how deep was the object?
Approximately 20' long and 5' deep.
Were the corners a sharp right angle, or round, or something else?
I'm not sure.
Were there no lights of any description at any time?
There were no lights.
When you describe circles around the perimeter, what exactly do you mean by the perimeter - underneath or on the side? Did they extend all the way around?
See picture. I'm not positive if the circles went all around the perimeter.
How large were these in relation to the object?
Not positive.
How many of these would you say there were?
Not positive.
Was it moving with one of the points facing forward?
Yes.
Were there any noticeable features on the "front" of the object?
No.
You must have had an excellent view of the underside; what features can you recall? Please mention absolutely anything which comes to mind, no matter how trivial it may seem.
I'm very sorry, but it happened so long ago that I'm really finding it difficult to remember everything, in fact the whole event seems fuzzy. All I noticed was the colour, circles, shape and the fact that it was very quiet.
Was the object moving at all times?
Yes.
How fast would you describe it as moving?
5 - 10 m.p.h.
Did it move in a straight line?
Yes.
You have mentioned there was no discernible sound. Were there any other noises, e.g., traffic, which might have masked any sound?
No noise at all.
Did you notice any change in the atmosphere when the object flew overhead.
Everything seemed exceptionally quite.
Were there any markings of any kind, even the smallest detail like a different coloured section, which you can recall?
The holes or circles seemed almost black.
Can you say in which location this incident occurred?
Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada - Just outside of Toronto.
