The Sci-Fi Craze! An Insight into"Who We Are!"
Everywhere you go now-a-days you hear about aliens,ufo's,people getting abducted and whatever!...but in truth! Science Fiction has been around for quite a while! (1950's)
Only now! People have gone crazy with this alien thing! everyone you talk to says,"oh yeah! I've been abducted!...Sure! Well, people might think we're strange or different and ask us! Why? A Sci-Fi Band! Why Not!...There's rock bands,blues,alternative,metal,punk,country, why not Sci-Fi! Let it be known, that we started this way back in 1986 before anyone even heard of the X-Files and when Science Fiction was fun! watching those weird 1960's movies...like Mars Attacks and Forbidden Planet! So!..for the record,WE were the FIRST science fiction band to come along with a somewhat interesting concept! and actually be called"True Sci-Fi Musicians!" Now there's all kinds of weird bands trying to use scifi or space in their name and have no clue what kind of music it even is! or what their even writing? Grunge,Alternative,or Acid Jazz?!
WHAT IS SCI-FI MUSIC?:Our Meaning and Definition:
To define"True Sci-Fi Music"is to Say:...a mixture of theme and soundtrack music(related to a film
or tv show)add a real symphony orchestra in certain songs! throw in some classical music, then
add some strange sound effects and mix it with heavy progressive rock music!..and a bit of metal
for the edge and spice! There you have it! This is what we mean when we say,SCI-FI MUSIC!!
Our influences are heavily taken from the 80's when progressive rock was big! When music was complex and songs lasted 8 to 10 minutes! With searing guitar solos and intricate melodies! and a wall of keyboards defined the sound (with a good old hammond B3!) so, if your into spacey songs with a technical 90's approach! and you like bands:Yes,Rush,ELP,DreamTheater and our new favourite...Spock's Beard! Check us Out! Of course we've added the whole Sci-Fi thing with ghost sounds,scary sounds out of nowhere! and things that will definitely give you the creeps! Thanks to the X-Files!,we now have more believers and fans into the "strange" and "unknown" more than ever before!!
Our music is truly unique! since we strive to be"Different/Sound"like nothing else out there! and cannot be defined!Record Company's are baffled on how to take us or market us! So...this is great! We dare to be different and do not want to be labeled as everyone else! Thanks! to YOU!...our fans,we are becoming Cult Status and do defy the normal!!
We are all professionally trained musicians,Louis,the keyboard player is classically trained and has jazz background! Myself, I've studied at Humber College,Toronto for music and theory and my background is writing,composing,producing music for television,radio jingles,film,cd-rom and recently,multimedia presentations! for companies....this is where my experience has really helped our music get played on television and film as well as used in advertising promotions!
We do not perform much at your "local bar" and are never grouped with alternative bands or the latest thing! since we prefer to put on our own concerts or have corporate sponsored shows!! We are very selective where we play! since our goal is to be noticed,get exposure in the multi-media and trade shows! and television! We do perform at concerts and benefits for things like the cancer society or heart foundation and we like doing cool radio shows on actual ghosts or ufo experiences we have had and other people have had!! There are also guest psychics/ufologists!
IT's TRUE! We Do investigate ufo activity and haunted houses! Why? Because we like to find out just why the place is haunted or why are the spirits earthbound,trapped or cannot move on to the other side! I, myself, have done and gone on countless ghost hauntings with 'real paranormal' investigators to research these incidents and many have been documented on video and sound recordings! That's where we get our cool ghost sounds from and actual sound recordings!
No Such Thing As Ghosts? You Say!...
A lot of people say,were nuts to go into a haunted house! and they wouldn't dare go in there!...but
someone has to!,right! It doesn't bother me...but, at times,I've seen stuff that will scare the living
shit out of you! I mean real evil ghosts!,devils,spirits and black figures that have warned me to leave,
literally thrown me out and chased me right to the front door! for shit sakes! even the walls bleeding!
Even when we played a gig...at the famous abandoned haunted house in Toronto,1995,called the
Devils Den!..the band and the crowd of fans ran out after an hour of playing there! That's where our instruments were lit on fire as we played! and strange noises were coming through our amps! not the music-anymore! I was the only one left standing on stage! while everything around me was engulfed in flames! No one was hurt,by the way,but some people thought this was part of the show!Sure! We Really want to light ourselves on fire!!?For those who were there,We did not
sacrifice that black cat and throw it in the audience! It died in the fire! Now you know!OK.
That's why we are called a Sci-Fi Band! Since all kinds of strange,paranormal things happen!!
