Microsoft is proud to introduce Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows 3.1 Preview 1.
This release includes the premier Internet client for Windows 3.1,
Outlook Express (an integrated e-mail and news program)
and the Microsoft Virtual Machine for Java.
Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 has all of the best
features of Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows 95 - available
now for users of Windows 3.1.
Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows 3.1 is modeled after the award-winning
Windows 95 version, so it is easy to learn and easy to use.
This means that if you ever decide to upgrade to Windows 95, you
won't have to worry about learning new software - once you know how to
use Internet Explorer on one computer, you know how to use it on any computer.
When you send mail from Windows 3.1 using Outlook Express
you can be sure that someone who uses the Windows 95 version will see your mail
exactly the way you wrote it.
If you write web pages you'll be pleased that Internet Explorer for Windows 95 and
Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 use the same rendering engine so web pages will
look identical in both browsers.

Internet Explorer site on the web.
Note to Web Authors: Pages created using Dynamic HTML for Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows
95 Platform Preview 1 or Preview 2 may not work correctly in this release. This is because the
Dynamic HTML object model for this release includes many, but not all of the Preview 2
enhancements.
We do not recommend writing pages which use the Windows 3.1 Preview 1 Object Model.
Developers should create content which uses the Windows 95 Preview 2 Dynamic HTML Object
Model, which will be supported in the next preview release of Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows 3.1.
