. It includes the XEmacs exacutable including MULE (Multiple Language) support, libraries, documenation (man and info formats), and auxiliary programs (b2m, ctags, etags, gnuattach, gnuclient,
etc.) A xemacs binary without MULE support is also included. It is compiled statically withlibz, libpng
, andlibjpeg
support. Everything installs under/usr/freeware
.
This version was thoroughly tested on IRIX 6.5 and should work on anything from IRIX 6.2 and up. Testers are needed, please let us know if this works or doesn't work for you. If you do please specify your hardware and OS version.
NOTE: this version of XEmacs is built
n32
. On IRIX 6.2 systems it requires the following libraries:Library Package ------- --------------------- libm.so compiler_eoe.sw32.lib libcurses.so Same libXm.so.1 motif_eoe.sw32.eoe libXpm.so.1 ViewKit_eoe.sw32.base libXmu.so x_eoe.sw32.eoe libXt.so Same libXext.so Same libX11.so.1 SameAll these libraries are available on the first (1 of 2) IRIX (6.2 or up) CD. It is recommended that you ensure you have these installed (you may tryversions | grep package_name
) before downloading xemacs. If you don't have them installed your should be able to find the missing ones one of your IRIX CDs or in our recommended patches for your IRIX version. If you already downloaded XEmacs and get installation conflicts (missing prereqs), don't delete the distribution. Simply tell
swmgr
to keep it. Install the missing stuff and then go back toswmgr
to install XEmacs rather then downloading this huge package again. Another good workaround: you can always use the classic incantationset rulesoverride onin swmgr to force it to install despite the conflicts and worry about them later.
