What is xless

xless is a graphical version of the GNU less command, which, itself is an enhancement of the more(1) program.

Installation Information

xless Subsystems

xless includes these subsystems:

fw_UCBxless.sw.xless

base software. this is needed to run xless, a graphical version of the less(1) command.

fw_UCBxless.man

xless manual pages

fw_UCBxless.src.xless

xless source code (do an 'xmkmf -a' then 'make')

Installation Method

All of the subsystems for this product can be installed using IRIX. You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the Software Installation Administrator's Guide for complete installation instructions.

Compatibility

This software is compatible with IRIX 5.3 and IRIX 6.1.

Configuration Files

the app-defaults file is in /usr/freeware/lib/X11/app-defaults/XLess.

Known Problems and Workarounds

xless -f doesn't seem to follow very well. no known fix at the moment.
