NINTENDO AND MULTIGEN CONTINUE "DREAM TEAM" PARTNERSHIP
Nintendo of America Inc. Delivers Over 65 Seats of MultiGen's Authoring Tools to Nintendo 64 Game Developers
San Jose, Calif - April 5, 1996 - MultiGen Inc., the leader in realtime 3D authoring software, announced today that Nintendo of America Inc. has broadly adopted MultiGen's commercial tools for realtime 3D game development. Under terms of the agreement, Nintendo has delivered more than 60 seats of MultiGen software to design games for the Nintendo 64 (N64) home video game machine.
"We selected MultiGen's tools, including GameGen II, because they interpret the creativity of the artists yet maximize the power of the Nintendo 64 to deliver true realtime game interaction," said Howard Lincoln, chairman, Nintendo of America Inc. "MultiGen software is being used by several developers, such as Super Mario 64 from Nintendo, Pilotwings 64 from Paradigm Simulation Inc., and GoldenEye 007 and other games from Rare Ltd., which will be launched with the N64."
MultiGen joined Nintendo's "Dream Team" in late 1994, when it became a key supplier of realtime 3D authoring tools for the Nintendo 64. MultiGen originally provided customized development tools to Nintendo for N64 developers. Nintendo has now adopted GameGen II authoring software, which is optimized to create, edit and prototype 3D environments for realtime 3D video game applications.
"GameGen II combines creative 3D modeling power with scene composition, which makes it ideal for the development of the next generation of realtime 3D video games," said Rick Bess, entertainment product manager for MultiGen. "MultiGen's strategic partnership with Nintendo of America Inc. has enabled N64 game developers to have access to the industry's leading realtime 3D authoring tools, and has allowed MultiGen to increase the visibility of our unique technology."
