This image is a freeze frame from a MagBall(tm) game in progress. MagBall is a multi-player (2-6 contest-ants), 3D digital team sport in the tradition of hockey and basketball. The game is played by maneuvering the hovering MagPods around the arena to capture the MagBall using an attractive magnetic force, then shooting the MagBall into your goal with a repelling force. In addition to the player views, a separate spectator view displays the current game, from the eye points of various arena TV cameras, for the customers waiting to play. The database was created using MultiGen software by Janet Fraiser, Ed Williamson, Steve Reed and Forrest "Boomer" Shepard. The design team met the challenge of gathering source data by attending hockey and football games and creating player textures from GreyStone employees.

This database of a futuristic hangar is one "set" from "Cyberia2", the 3D immersive action adventure from Xatrix Entertainment, available on PC CD-ROM. The creative team for this fully interactive game consisted of Art Director/Map Painter Robert Stahl and Designer/ Modeler Jason Hoover. Each "set" was conceived in the mind's eye with the foremost consideration being the overall lighting environment. Every custom texture map contains a piece of the lighting scenario. Once assembled and applied according to the design, the environment becomes a photo-realistic "set" completely accurate down to the shadows. In addition, rendering time for the "set" is greatly reduced by eliminating the need for many 3D lights to achieve this look. These production methods used by Xatrix are evident in the visual quality of their best selling games.

Egghead Shred
This is a scene from a realtime 3D experience built by Paradigm Simulation using MultiGen software for demonstration at SIGGRAPH '95. This punky snow boarding egg may not be Olympic material but he has some great realtime 3D moves including articulated body parts with realistic behaviors like body English, spins, jumps and crashes. All his moves are supported with realtime sound effects. With Egghead you can navigate the ski slope at breakneck speed or take a leisurely spin from the Chalet to the hot tub. Egghead Shred's realtime adventure runs on a Silicon Graphics Onyx workstation. Paradigm Simulation Inc. develops realtime 3D interactive audio and visual development tools for simulation and virtual reality applications.

SpeedScape
Xatrix first demonstrated the prototype of SpeedScape, its futuristic location base entertainment experience, (LBE), at the amusement-park operator's annual convention. The industry was dazzled. The reviewers declared "SpeedScape", "Best in Show".
SpeedScape was developed by the joint efforts of Xatrix, Gemini Technology and McFadden Systems. Xatrix developed the artwork and designed the experience. The SpeedScape environment was modeled using MultiGen software and uses MultiGen's OpenFlight(r) Scene Description Database Specification. McFadden created the motion based system, which is synchronized with the visual experience in a high definition motion-theater. Gemini Technology, wrote the visual systems software (OpenGVS), and equations of motion and project integration.
"SpeedScape" takes the driver to hyperreal edges of cybergraphic space. Unlike passive film-based rides, the participants control the action and become completely absorbed in the experience. Participant capability can be scaled for one to eight players-or more, and extended to include diving into underwater adventures, soaring through clouds, and exploring real and imaginary worlds. The wonder of the Xatrix LBE approach is its near infinite adaptability. Other Xatrix created worlds, from CD-ROM titles and television productions, can be brought directly into LBE. The location may be fixed, but the horizon goes on forever.
