Laser Mapping System (LMS)
Laser Mapping System (LMS) is a "metrologic vision system" that produces accurate 3-D CAD models of anything from small objects to entire facilities. The Laser Mapping System expands the accuracy limits of current systems in use and reduces the cost of post-processing.
The LMS is composed of:
a SOISIC portable laser scanning system to acquire the surface point coordinates of an object in real-time using an advance laser triangulation technology. It provides accurate non-contact surface measurement at distance ranging from 2 to 50 meters (6 to 166ft) without targeting and produces a large amount of 3-D points.
a 3Dipsos software running on a Silicon Graphics workstation that processes a large cluster of points off-line and creates 3-D geometric models. 3Dipsos supports user defined modeling constraints (axis, dimensions, orientation, etc.) and generates outputs compatible with most CAD software applications such as AutoCAD, PDMS and Microstation.
