RAPTAD®
RAPTAD® is a 3-dimensional computer code used to predict transport and diffusion of airborne materials over complex terrain. Meteorological inputs required to run RAPTAD are provided by a 3-dimensional atmospheric forecast code, HOTMAC. Important features of RAPTAD include incorporation of complex wind and turbulence variations modeled by HOTMAC and Monte Carlo statistical methods for puff transport. HOTMAC and RAPTAD are used in a number of practical applications such as air pollution transport in coastal and mountainous areas, emergency preparedness planning for the accidental or routine release of toxic gas, and battlefield stategy involving atmospheric diffusion, environmental site assessment, and environmental studies.
