Model 608 GIO64 bus-to-bus VMEbus Adaptor

The Model GIO64 Adaptor is used to provide high-speed, low-latency bus-to-bus connection between Silicon Graphics Indigo2 workstation via GIO64 Bus to a separate VMEbus system. The two systems are only connected when data transmission is needed thereby saving bandwidth. Communication is via Memory Mapping, built-in DMA Controller and Slave DMA Modes. The workstation can use the resources of the special function VMEbus cards or processor as if they were local to the Indigo2. Sustained transfer rates up to 26M Bytes/sec. Distance separation between systems to 25 feet with copper cable and to 2000 meters with fiber-optic options.
