Universal I/O Driver (UIOD)(TM)

The Universal I/O Driver (UIOD)(TM) provides an easy way to develop an application using VMIC I/O boards. Using library routines modeled after their familiar UNIX open (2), read (2), write (2), close (2) and ioctl (2) counterparts, an applications program can readily exchange raw data with a VMEbus I/O subsystem.

The VMEbus I/O products to be used are first described by a configuration control table that the applications program provides to the UIOD library's initialization routine. Once this is done, the applications program can manipulate groups of one or more I/O points as a collective unit.
