CMS is based on Collaborative Work Management (CWM), a unique enabling technology that allows people to effectively collaborate during the early pre-release stages of product development. CWM captures detailed process and product information providing a basis for reuse and greater product development repeatability. CWM promotes collaboration because, for the first time, work being done by others is visible to all project team members in real time. This includes the state of completion of the work as well as work interdependencies. This is particularly valuable for project managers who spend a great deal of time gathering status information to update project plans. With CMS this information is dynamically available since work completion is automatically captured. As a result project predictability is greatly improved since bottlenecks can be detected early and taken into account within the project schedule. Ultimately this streamlines the product development cycle, improves innovation through better collaboration, and captures company best practices for reuse on subsequent projects.
