Open Inventor

Open Inventor is an object-oriented 3-D toolkit that dramatically simplifies 3-D graphics programming. With the case and modularity of a toolkit, Open Inventor puts the functionality of Open GL at your fingertips, utilizing the test programming knowlege at Silicon Graphics to produce peak rendering performance. The rich inventor set of preprogrammed building blocks defines a full-featured, extensible framework upon which entire applications can be developed. It includes a wide variety of geometry, property and group objects, as well as manipulators for user interaction, high-level viewers, and editor components. Inventor also establishes a file format standard for 3-D data exchange.
