  4. INSTALLATION

  10. INTO THEIR ORATOR PROGRAM 
  11. DIRECTORY. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS
  12. CAREFULLY.

  15. 1)      Orator no longer requires NDX files, these will be created.
  16.  
  17. 2)      Orator has difficulty in working together with Windows systems
  18.     who also use EMM386 in there Config.SYS. Microsoft themselves 
  19.     advise that one doesn't use EMM386 together with Windows.
  20.  
  21. 3)      Ensure that you have ANSI.SYS configured in your Config.SYS. At 
  22.     the moment the ANSIVIEWER does not have an internal ANSI 
  23.     interpreter.
  24.  
  25. 4)      Copy all the files in this archive into a temporary install directory.
  26.  
  27. 5)      Start Windows and from the Program Manager (or File Manager) choose 
  28.     Run from the File menu. Type a:Setup (Or drive and path to temporary
  29.     installation directory). Setup will then proceed to install Orator
  30.     for you. This procedure is the same for existing users merely
  31.     upgrading.

  33. 6)      On the first time you start Orator it will run the Configuration
  34.     routine and then return you to the Program Manager. Subsequent starts
  35.     of Orator will actually run the Reader it is only the first time that
  36.     runs the configuration routine.

  38. WHATS FIXED AND NEW
  39. -------------------
  40.  
  41. 1)      Orator detects Reply-To: fields when replying to private EMAIL 
  42.     received over Sparkwares UseNet Gateway.
  43.  
  44. 2)    NDX files are no longer needed so reconfigure you mail door settings
  45.     if it currently includes NDX files.
  46.  
  47. 3)    Private Mail is detected and replied to with the Reply 
  48.     Private/Public option automatically set to Private. Previous
  49.       versions used to corrupt the private/public setting of the 
  50.     message when it was read.
  51.  
  52. 4)    Personal Mail is now shown first and then other conferences
  53.     afterwards.
  54.  
  55. 5)    Letters could sometimes be missing in messages. This is now
  56.         fixed.
  57.  
  58. 6)    New function to show Replies. Uses Windows Notepad
  59.  
  60. 7)    Largest change of the lot is the introduction of a folders system.
  61.     This allows you to open your own folders with there titles and 
  62.     archive messages to them. You can then:
  63.     
  64.     a)    View them and cut them to the clipboard so that you can
  65.         include them in replies.
  66.  
  67.     b)    Print them out.
  68.  
  69.     c)    Move them between folders if you decide to reorganise them.
  70.  
  71.     d)    and of course delete them.
  72.  
  73. 8)    Conference Selection could crash if one clicked OK
  74.     without first selecting a conference.

  79. Known Bugs
  80. ----------

  82. Not many here to report.
  83.  
  84. 1)      If the user is running certain configurations of EMM386 or other
  85.     expanded memory manager then Orator has difficulty in reading Window 
  86.     states and cannot tell when the archiving command and extract
  87.     commands have completed.
  88.  
  89. 2)      Illegal Function Call errors (mainly when selecting the Conf button when
  90.     reading mail) when running under Win 3.0. This appears to be a bug in 
  91.     Windows and I am rewriting code areas affected by this.
