  6.     UniQWK is a Off-line Mail Reader for QWK package style. 
  7. UniQWK is designed to execute under Windows 3.1. With UniQWK 
  8. you can process messages quickly, with access to all Windows 
  9. 3.1 facilities. In addition to most commons features of popular 
  10. DOS Mail reads, UniQWK provides special facilities to process 
  11. foreign characters.   You can send and receive messages with
  12. symbols like π, é, ô...   ANSI ART messages are supported. All
  13. under Windows 3.1

  51. About UniQWK:

  54.     UniQWK is not a free software.  You can test it for one 
  55. month. If you decide to use it, after a trial period, you must 
  56. get a license.  A license for the use of UniQWK can be 
  57. obtained  by sending a $30.00 (American dollars) registration 
  58. fee.

  60.     Regarding the Shareware registration. There is only one 
  61. reminder box just to stimulate you about the registration. This 
  62. is NOT a crippled version of the program.
  63.  
  64.         The license fee paid for UniQWK is a one time fee.   The
  65. licence legalizes your use of the program and keep you free from the
  66. borring reminder box and taglines.   Licensed users can use future
  67. revisions  of UniQWK without aditional fee.

  69.     If the registration response is good then we'll have 
  70. the incentive to keep improving the program. It is very nice to 
  71. know that some of you like what we've done, but it's better to 
  72. receive some money...   Anyway, your comments and suggestions 
  73. are greatly appreciated.

  75.         UniQWK must be copied in an unmodified form and contain
  76. all files as described at "This ZIP file contains".
  77.     
  78.         Public Domain Disk Vendors  and distributors of public domain
  79. and user suported software  may not charge a fee for UniQWK itself.
  80. However you may include UniQWK on a diskette for which you charge a
  81. nominal distribution fee. The purchaser of said diskette must be
  82. informed in advance that the fee paid to acquire the diskette
  83. does NOT relieve said purchaser from paying the Registration Fee
  84. for UniQWK.

  86.         Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (Sysops) may
  87. post UniQWK for downloading by their users without written permission
  88. only as long as the above conditions are met.  A fee may be charged for
  89. access to the BBS as long as no specific fee is charged for downloading
  90. UniQWK files.

  97. How to Install
  98. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  100. - Copy MRPACK.PIF and MRUNPACK.PIF into your Windows directory.
  101. - Copy UNIQWK.EXE, UNIQWK.HLP and BCWTERM.FNT into a directory 
  102.   created specifically.
  103. - Create a work directory (EX: c:\mr). Keep it empty and   
  104.   doesn't use it to anything else. UniQWK will erase it.
  105. - Run Windows, if you still are at old DOS prompt.
  106. - With Program Manager, set UniQWK into any group of your choice
  107. - Run UniQWK.
  108. - You MUST choose the "CONFIG" menu before reading any .QWK 
  109.   packet, in order to set the default directories. Special care 
  110.   with the "work directory", UniQWK clears this directory, so use 
  111.   it only for UniQWK.
  112. - Check, with PIF Editor, if the .PIF files are correct for 
  113.   your system and if the compress/uncompress programs of your   
  114.   choice are correct.
  115. - Set Message Editor, colors, etc.
  116. - For more information, use the Help Facilities.
  117. - Open any .QWK using appropriate option on FILE menu and enjoy.
  118. - UniQWK doesn't use .NDX files, so you can disable index files
  119.   generation (see your BBS configuration) and save your time.

  123. Upgrading from version 1.0
  124. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  125.     If you are upgrading from version 1.0, you need only replace old files
  126. UNIQWK.EXE and UNIQWK.HLP by the new ones.   No change is necessary in your
  127. configuration file.

  135. bulletin board, demonstrate the software and its capabilities or
  136. give copies to potential users, so that others may have the
  137. opportunity to obtain a copy for use in accordance with the license
  138. terms contained in this file.

  146. 1.    LICENSE GRANT.  UniKEY grants to you, as an individual, 
  147. a non-exclusive right to use one copy of the object code 
  148. version of the SOFTWARE associated with this license for 
  149. personal use on your computer.  This license to use the 
  150. SOFTWARE is conditioned upon your compliance with the terms of 
  151. this Agreement.  You are entitled to evaluate the software on a 
  152. royalty free basis for thirty days.  Use after the thirty day
  153. evaluation period is further conditioned upon payment of the 
  154. license fee specified in this README.TXT file.  You agree you 
  155. will only copy the SOFTWARE as necessary to use it in 
  156. accordance with this license.

  158. 2.    COPYRIGHT.  The SOFTWARE is protected by Brazilian 
  159. copyright law and international treaty provisions.  You 
  160. acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property in the 
  161. SOFTWARE is transferred to you.  You further acknowledge that 
  162. title and full ownership rights to the SOFTWARE will remain the 
  163. exclusive property of UniKEY or its suppliers, and you will not 
  164. acquire any rights to the SOFTWARE except as expressly set 
  165. forth in this license.  You agree that any copies of the 
  166. SOFTWARE will contain the same proprietary notices which appear 
  167. on and in the SOFTWARE.

  169. 3.    REVERSE ENGINEERING.  You agree that you will not 
  170. attempt to reverse compile, modify, translate, or disassemble 
  171. the SOFTWARE in whole or in part.

  173. 4.    LIMITED WARRANTY.  UniKEY warrants that the SOFTWARE 
  174. will perform substantially in accordance with the accompanying 
  175. written materials for a period of ninety (90) days from the 
  176. date of purchase.  Any implied warranties relating to the 
  177. SOFTWARE are limited to ninety (90) days.

  179. 5.    CUSTOMER REMEDIES.  If the SOFTWARE does not conform to 
  180. the limited warranty in Section 4 above ("Limited Warranty"), 
  181. UniKEY's entire liability and your sole and exclusive remedy 
  182. shall be, at UniKEY's option, either to (a) correct the error 
  183. or (b) help you work around or avoid the error.  The Limited 
  184. Warranty is void if failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted from 
  185. accident, abuse, or misapplication.  Any replacement SOFTWARE 
  186. will be warranted for the remainder of the original Limited 
  187. Warranty period.

  189. 6.    NO OTHER WARRANTIES.  UniKEY does not warrant that the 
  190. SOFTWARE is error free.  Except for the express limited 
  191. warranty in section 4 ("LIMITED WARRANTY"), UniKEY disclaims 
  192. all other warranties with respect to the software, either 
  193. express or implied, including but not limited to implied 
  194. warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose 
  195. and noninfringement of third party rights.  Some jurisdictions 
  196. do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limitations 
  197. on how long an implied warranty may last, or the exclusion or 
  198. limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above 
  199. limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.  This warranty 
  200. gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other 
  201. rights which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

  203. 7.    SEVERABILITY.  In the event of invalidity of any 
  204. provision of this license, the parties agree that such 
  205. invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining 
  206. portions of this license.

  208. 8.    No liability for consequential damages.  In no event 
  209. shall UniKEY or its suppliers be liable to you for any 
  210. consequential, special, incidental or indirect damages of any 
  211. kind arising out of the delivery, performance or use of the 
  212. software, even if UniKEY has been advised of the possibility of 
  213. such damages.  In no event will UniKEY's liability for any 
  214. claim, whether in contract, tort or any other theory of 
  215. liability, exceed the license fee paid by you, if any.

  217. 9.    GOVERNING LAW.  This license will be governed by the 
  218. laws of Brazil as they are applied to agreements between Brazil 
  219. residents entered into and to be performed entirely within 
  220. Brazil.  The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the 
  221. International Sale of Goods is specifically disclaimed.

  223. 10.    ENTIRE AGREEMENT.  This is the entire agreement between 
  224. you and UniKEY which supersedes any prior agreement or 
  225. understanding, whether written or oral, relating to the subject 
  226. matter of this license.
