Ymodem Batch / Ymodem-G
Ymodem has a built in communications manager and doesn't
need any type of fossil, in fact you should make sure you
turn the fossil OFF if running it on a BBS that uses a
fossil.
Ymodem requires a number of command line switches:
-B, -P, {-R or -S}
-Bxxxx <Baud Rate>
-R Receive files
-UDrive:path, directs that all files received should be
stored on this drive and in this directory.
This switch is primaryly for NON-OSIRIS,
NON-QT systems. Osiris takes care of this
internally and this switch should NOT be
used.
Example: -UC:\uploads
-UD:\files\temp
Do NOT end the path with a backslash "\"
Illegal -U settings would be C:\
C:\uploads\
D:\files\temp\
C:
-X , Engage RTS flow control. Should ONLY be used if you are
attempting to run a High Speed modem locked at 19200 or
38400 WITHOUT a 16550 Uart. This is NOT a fix, only a
short term solution until you get a 16550 installed.
-G , Use Ymodem-G.
-O, use Ymodem Overdrive/Overthrust. This is compabible with
the DSZ Ymodem Overthrust.
The switch should never be used with the -G switch.
-Nx, with x being the node number in use. For use on Osiris
CBIS systems only. Ymodem will show the name of the
caller as well as where he's from if this switch is used.
-Px, Supported Com Ports, COM 1, COM 2, COM 3, and COM 4.
(COM1-8 if used with OSIRIS.)
-S, <Filenames> as many as DOS allows. Full drive,
path, and filename supported.
e.g. -S File1.Zip File2.Zip
NOTE: -R or -S MUST be the last
parameter on the command line. As soon as
Ymodem encounters either one of these two
switches, it will begin to either Receive
or Send.
The -L switch is only for those that do not have COMx= set in
the environment. If your running Osiris then Ymodem will use
the COMx= automatically.
Sample Osiris Command line (protocol control file)
(Ymodem)
Send : -N*N -B*B -P*P -@*U
RCV : -N*N -B*B -P*P -R
(Ymodem-G)
Send : -G -N*N -B*B -P*P -@*U
RCV : -G -N*N -B*B -P*P -R
Infomation
This driver supports Ymodem Batch and Ymodem-G. Use -G for
Ymodem-G.
It has been tested against DSZ in both modes and seems to
function just fine.
The Ymodem-G documentation is rather swallow on just exactly
what to do if an error occurs. The receiver is suppose to
abort the transfer but it doesn't say if it's suppose to
abort out the entire BATCH session.
We would recommend Ymodem-G ONLY be used if the call is
local or your using an HST, Telebit, or another other modem
with MNP or ARQ type error correction.
Special -B setting
If you leave the -B switch OFF, ie. don't supply it, Ymodem
will use the current SERIAL setting.
This may result in efficiency ratings and estimated transfer
times to be off if you are running a LOCKED serial port set
to a higher rate than you are actual running.
If you find you have trouble getting it to run, try this
approach. If it then works, you'll know that either your -B
setting was wrong or the -L lock rate was not correct.
Price
Ymodem may be freely used by Osiris Owners. If you do NOT
own Osiris, Ymodem must be purchased.
The price is 15 dollars (US Currency).
