_______________
BRAD'S EDGE
_______________
Thoroughbred Handicapping Program
_________________________________
BRAD'S EDGE is fast and easy-to-use, yet it is really quite
sophisticated and complete. It takes into account the class
of competition which a horse has been facing, his most recent
performance, the skill of his jockey, the weight he's carrying,
recent workouts, and how long it has been since he last raced.
Not bad for such a streamlined program.
BRAD'S EDGE is not meant to be a total substitute for good
handicapping skills. It is a tool to supplement and complement
your own knowledge and provide a consistent, proven framework of
information gathering and analysis within which you can make
your wagering decisions.
How to run BRAD'S EDGE
----------------------
The program will ask you to enter information about the horse
which you are handicapping. The information needed is all
contained in the Daily Racing Form, and most of the questions
are self-explanatory.
The "Key Race" is the past race for this horse that you believe
is most reflective of the horse's current condition and abilities.
Typically it is the most recent race in which the horse has run,
unless you feel that the track conditions at that time, or some
other factor(s), make it unrepresentative. In that case you use
a previous race as the "Key Race".
"Class" is the purse or claiming price for the "Key Race". It is
a measure of the caliber of competition against which the horse
was matched in that race. It is expressed in thousands of dollars.
When you have answered all of BRAD'S EDGE's questions, it will
compute and display a rating number for the horse in question.
The higher the rating, the better the horse's chance of winning
in today's race. Jot the rating down next to the horse's name
on your Racing Form. Then repeat the process for the other
horses in the race.
That's all there is to running BRAD'S EDGE. Use the relative
ratings in combination with the betting odds displayed on the
tote board to identify those betting opportunities which are
especially attractive.
You're looking for situations where the betting line is out of
synch with the true relative strengths of the various horses as
determined by BRAD'S EDGE. This could be a horse top-rated by
BRAD'S EDGE that's not the betting favorite. Or it could be a
horse rated a close second by BRAD'S EDGE that's going off at long
odds. After you have used BRAD'S EDGE for a while you'll develop
a feel for how to best apply its results at your favorite track.
