  21.          You must add or edit the following lines of your CONFIG.SYS file in
  22.          the root directory and reboot to run this program:

  25.          This program is too large to run from a 360K diskette. You must
  26.          have a hard drive.  The program is distributed in a PKZIP file. Run
  27.          the INSTALL program to automatically create a sub-directory called
  28.          TREE on your hard drive if you do not know how to extract ZIP
  29.          files.  On distribution disks of this program the following files
  30.          will be found:

  32.              INSTALL.BAT     The installation batch file
  33.              CTREE33.ZIP     Cumberland Tree ZIP file
  34.              PKUNZIP.EXE     PKZIP extract program

  37.            INSTALL <origination drive letter> <destination drive letter>
  38.                                 EXAMPLE:  INSTALL A C

  40.          To start program type:  CTREE <enter>

  42.               The program comes with a small sample database which can be
  43.          used to study the program. To clear out the database, use the
  44.          "Empty Data Files" selection from the F2-Files Menu.  A manual is
  45.          included on this disk. To print the manual, select "Print Manual"
  46.          from the "F7-Utilities" menu.

  48.          WARNING! This program holds data in memory and automatically saves
  49.          data as you exit the program. DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER or
  50.          REBOOT WHILE THE PROGRAM IS RUNNING. Data in memory will not be
  51.          written to disk and unrecoverable data corruption will occur.

  59.          The CUMBERLAND TREE Family Tree program is a shareware application
  60.          program for doing genealogy work.  It allows entry of individual
  61.          names, birth, christening, marriage, death and burial dates and
  62.          places tying them all together automatically as a family and
  63.          extended family structure.  It's features include:
  64.  
  65.            * Friendly pop-up menus and screens with extensive on-line help.
  66.              Much easier to use than other genealogy programs which use the
  67.              old fashioned menu driven approach. No other program contains
  68.              as much on-line help.
  69.            * Surnames are allowed at beginning, middle or ending of name for
  70.              full international compatibility.  This feature is unavailable
  71.              in other programs. People from Asian descent CANNOT use any
  72.              other program without changing the order of their names.
  73.            * Automatic entry of father's surname when a child is added.
  74.              Automatic entry of child's surname when a father is entered.
  75.              This feature is unknown in any other program. If the surname is
  76.              not correct then simply over write it.
  77.            * Enter place names only once!  The ability to enter a place name
  78.              once and select it from an easy to use pop-up window forever
  79.              after is unknown in any other program.  This is an enormous
  80.              time saver as many genealogies are filled with many people who
  81.              were born, married, and died in the same town for several
  82.              generations. The re-typing of places names (as is done in other
  83.              programs) is very time consuming.
  84.            * Printing of pedigree charts, descendants, family group sheets,
  85.              individual and marriage listings, birthday, anniversaries,
  86.              ordinance check lists and other reports.  Includes on-screen
  87.              viewing of printed reports.

  109.          If you are upgrading from CUMBERLAND TREE 3.x make certain you
  110.          backup your data files before installing this program.  Restore the
  111.          files listed under CUMBERLAND-TREE-DATA-FILES below after
  112.          installing Version 3.3.

  114.          If you are upgrading from a EASY-TREE Ver 2.x you must have the
  115.          program CONV2TO3.EXE, which is available to registered users only.
  116.          You must specify on the registration form that you need this
  117.          program or it will not be sent.

  119.              1. Copy the files (in your CUMBERLAND TREE sub-directory)
  120.                 listed under CUMBERLAND-TREE-DATA-FILES below to a safe
  121.                 directory or a floppy disk for later restoration. (There
  122.                 were only seven files in the earlier version.)
  123.              2. Install the new version of CUMBERLAND TREE as explained
  124.                 above. The new directory will be called TREE. The old EASY-
  125.                 TREE directory was called ET.
  126.              3. Copy the saved seven files from step 1 back to the \TREE
  127.                 sub-directory.
  128.              4. Run the program CONV2TO3.EXE to convert data.  (If you had
  129.                 other sub-directories with TREE data, then rerun this
  130.                 program for each sub-directory in which you have old EASY-
  131.                 TREE data.)
  132.              5. Reset your printer control codes under F5-Print1/Printer
  133.                 Setup. The current sub-directory will be reset to the
  134.                 default directory.
