PLEASE READ
===========
(1) Please read the copyright notice (in the file "COPYRIGHT") in this, the
root directory, before using any of the resources on this disc. Some
individual directories have their own, more restrictive, copyright
notices.
The copyright notices must be observed.
(2) General resources for the Videoclip Collection 2 CD ROM can be found in
the directory "ACORN". This includes !ARPlayer for playing Replay
movies, !ChangeFSI for viewing still images, and a !System update needed
by some of the third party applications.
(3) !ChangeFSI has been modified so that JPEG images can still be decoded if
!ChangeFSI is run from a CD ROM. However it needs to write a temporary
file when decoding Photo CD packs (file type PCD). !ChangeFSI should
therefore be copied to a hard disc or floppy disc, and run from there,
prior to decoding a Photo CD pack.
Risc PC owners: If you use this copy to update !ChangeFSI on your Risc
PC then you must also update !SlideShow with the copy from the
Acorn directory.
(4) Please ensure that you are using CDFS 2.21 or later. If in doubt contact
the supplier of your SCSI expansion card.
(5) Before you start
You can run the Replay applications from a CD ROM or other read-only
media, but it's usually best to copy them onto a fast writable device,
such as a hard disc. The following tells you how to organise your files
before you start using Replay, so that Replay applications can find the
tools they need and know where to store any temporary files they create.
Creating a Replay directory
---------------------------
Follow the instructions below to create a working directory for your
Replay files and applications. Note that your chosen writable device
will need quite a lot of memory free, as some of the files are very
large. Currently, !ARMovie requires about 1.2MB, and it will get larger
as it is upgraded. The amount of space required by !ARWork will vary,
but as a guide it will be a bit bigger than the size of a compressed
movie (usually a few MB).
1 Create a directory on your chosen writable device.
2 Put the Replay CD ROM into the CD ROM drive and open the root
directory.
3 Copy !ARPlayer and !ARMovie into your new Replay directory.
4 Put the Replay floppy disc into the floppy disc drive and open the
root directory.
5 Copy !ARWork, !ARMovie and !ARPlayer from the floppy disc to your new
Replay directory. This version of !ARMovie contains extra files,
which will be added to the version of !ARMovie you've already copied
from the CD ROM.
Using Replay applications
-------------------------
Before you use any Replay applications, Replay needs to know where to
find !ARWork and !ARMovie. Each time you switch on or reset your
computer, you should:
1 Double-click on the copy of !ARWork in your Replay directory
2 double-click on the copy of !ARMovie in your Replay directory. If you
don't do this, either you'll see a message telling you that the
computer couldn't find the necessary resources, or the computer could
use the wrong version of !ARMovie or !ARWork.
