  13. Hardware Requirements
  14. =====================
  15. - The game runs perfectly on a 486-66, and you should be able to play
  16.   it on a 486-33 without slowdown.
  17.   I don't have any flicker on my screen while playing, but I've seen
  18.   it on others...
  19.   If you have a real slow machine and it still runs without slowdown
  20.   (or flicker), please let me know.

  36. About Dem Innovations
  37. =====================
  38. My love for the early 80's coin-ops made me create Dem Innovations
  39. which is not a company, but a game developing project I run during my spare
  40. time. I try to concentrate on old classics and our first release 
  41. 'Santaman' is a tribute to those old arcade stand-ups.

  44. Santaman
  45. ========
  46. The year is unknown. A factory has being used by a gang mutants for
  47. a long time and people say strange things are going on there.
  48. When Santaman heard about this, he decided to clean up the factory.
  49. Equipped with his bazooka, he goes there to see what he can do about
  50. it. Santaman is not a hero and the mutants are dangerous, but when
  51. it comes to prevent this world from self destruction, Santaman will 
  52. always do everything he can.

  54.        YOUR MISSION IS TO REMOVE THE MUTANTS ON EVERY FLOOR.

  56. The game is a non-scrolling, old style, platform shooter. With its 
  57. 10 levels of pure action, 'Santaman' is Dem Innovations' contribution to 
  58. the 80's arcades.

  60. Start the game
  61. ==============
  62. Type SANTAMAN at the directory you put the files.
  63. The game will run under Windows, but be sure you run it 
  64. full-screen and not in a window!

  67. Controlling Santaman
  68. ====================
  69. To start the game you must 'put credits in the machine'. Do it by
  70. pressing LEFT CTRL. Then press the 'START button' (F1).

  72. -F1: the START button
  73.  
  74. -CURSOR KEYS: move santaman around
  75. -LEFT CTRL: shoot when arm is activated
  76.     Freeze your enemies when the super bazooka is not activated
  77.     Execute them when you have the super bazooka

  79. -SPACE: move platforms

  82. Items
  83. =====
  84. These are the items in the game:
  85. Activator- The activator is a green capsule with a santaman head
  86.        inside of it. You can freeze the mutants for a short while
  87.        if you shoot them. You will then be able to go through them.
  88.        You can not use the bazooka if it's not activated!
  89.  
  90. Super Bazooka- The red capsule will transform your already great weapon
  91.            into the ultimate cleaning-up tool. When you have this
  92.            weapon you can not longer freeze the mutants, so be
  93.            careful.

  95. Presents- In a future version you will get an extra life by finding
  96.       and picking up the 4 presents on each level. For now, you
  97.       will always get an extra life when you pass a level.

  99. Boot- Pick up the running boot and you will become Michael Johnson!

  102. Santaman Says...
  103. ================
  104. There is a box on the score board where you can read what Santaman
  105. says. Sometimes you will get important info here, so don't forget
  106. to keep an eye on this!

  109. ...And the Mutants
  110. ==================
  111. There are four of them:
  112.  
  113. Bat- This guy is fast and he chases you almost all the time.
  114. Salongo- The big Salongo will atack you if you and him are on the same 
  115.          platform.
  116. Liquidman- This guy is slow, and it is told that he is made of the
  117.        same material as the platforms...
  118. Spad- Spad will find you wherever you are! It's not that hard to fool
  119.       him though.

  121. NOTE: The mutants require a couple of shots from the S.bazooka
  122.       to die, so keep shooting at them until they're dead!
  123.       You can kill ALL the mutants with the S.bazooka!

  126. This Version
  127. ============
  128. This is version 1.0.  Before this, there was a test version and a lot of
  129. people wrote telling me the game wasn't bad at all!
  130. Now it's finished (well the presents will not give you bonus. I'll wait
  131. with that for now) and it's free, so enjoy it.
