TANKKK 1.0 READ.ME
******************************************************************************
From this file You will find some general notes about the tankkk.
1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- A fast 286 or better with a VGA.
- Approx. 400KB free memory is requested in order to load all sounds.
- A Sound Blaster, of course.
- Keyboard, colour monitor, hard disk etc ... ;>
2. CHANGES DONE IN THIS VERSION
- This game was previously named as 'tank'. Since there are
many other games named as 'tank' out there, I changed the name.
The version number is also dropped down to 1.
- Game configuration can be done now with an 'intelligent' GUI.
- GK (Game Keyboard) is included to TANKKK. No separate programs
needed any more.
- Possibility to use one or two joysticks is added.
- Fully digitized sounds for Sound Blaster are available. If you
do not have Blaster, go and buy one.
- Bouncing shots bounce better than ever.
- Number of hits required to destroy a tank is raised from 2 to 3.
3. HOW TO PLAY
Push following buttons in order to eliminate your best friends efficiently:
GREEN TANK YELLOW TANK RED TANK
(3 players mode only)
w : forward i : forward arrow up : forward
a,d : rotate j,l : rotate arrow left,right : rotate
ctrl : backward backspace : backward scroll lock : backward
v : fire ö : fire + : fire
This keyboard setup may be a little bit weird (sorry about that, again).
However, this is the only combination to deal with keyboard properly.
Red tank: Use arrow keys which are located between numeric keys and ascii
keys. If numeric keypad is used to drive the red tank, other tanks may be
interfered.
4. KNOWN BUGS
- As all experienced tank players are aware, the keyboard does not
function well in three players mode. Reason is unknown, it should
not function like this. However, if any of you out there knows a better
way to access all keys separately, give me a hint.
- Sound setup: If interrupt is changed, reboot must be performed in
order to make it effective. If used interrupt is wrong, sounds will
stop unexceptionally.
5. MISC
This game can be loaded (at least) from the following places:
FINLAND:
anonymous ftp: nic.funet.fi (128.214.6.100)
THE NETHERLANDS:
ENSING-BBS The Netherlands
+31 5904-1913 v21/22/22b/v23 + MNP5
+31 5904-2733 v21/22/22b/32/32b/v42/42b
Fido: 2:512/164
Any comments and bug reports are welcome. I do not know how this program runs
with voice boards which can emulate SB. Any feedback with this subject is also
highly appreciated. Please append information about the configuration you're
running on (CPU, grphics card (type), free memory ,DOS version, etc).
If you are interested, a voice editor and a function library for Sound
Blaster are available. This function library for digitized sounds is written
with Turbo Pascal (version 5.0 and up) and is used in TANKKK. However,
it is fairly easy to port in to other languages.
By sending $25 (and your address, of course) you will receive a 3.5" diskette
containing
- conversion program to convert voices from .VOC files
- editor for digitized voices (called VEDD)
- easy-to-use function library (with full source code) to playback voices
- documentation
If you send $45, you will get registered and you will automaticly receive
the next version of VEDD when available.
Remember, TANKKK is shareware. Support shareware programming and send
your contribution. Thank you.
Enjoy, folks!
