Traditional writer of Greek fables. According
to Herodotus he lived in the reign of Amasis
of Egypt (mid-6th century BC) and was a slave
of Iadmon, a Thracian. The fables, for which
no evidence of his
authorship exists, are anecdotal stories
using animal characters to illustrate moral
or satirical points.
