  1. A dandelion is a plant belonging to the
  2. Compositae family. The stalk rises from a
  3. rosette of leaves that are deeply indented 
  4. like a lion's teeth, hence the name (from
  5. French dent de lion). The flower heads are
  6. bright yellow. Dandelions, introduced from
  7. Europe many years ago, now grow throughout
  8. North America.
