  1. Fire clay is a clay with refractory 
  2. characteristics (resistant to high 
  3. temperatures), and hence suitable for lining 
  4. furnaces (firebrick). Its chemical 
  5. composition consists of a high percentage of 
  6. silicon and aluminium oxides, and a low 
  7. percentage of the oxides of sodium, 
  8. potassium, iron, and calcium.
