Single-celled marine animals, often
classified as an order of Protozoa, which are
enclosed by a thin shell. Some form part of
plankton, others live on the sea bottom. The
many-chambered Globigerina is part of
plankton. Its shells eventually form the
chalky ooze of the ocean floor.
