In geometry, a `slice' taken out of a solid
figure by a pair of parallel planes. A
conical frustum, for example, resembles a
cone with the top cut off. The volume and
area of a frustum are calculated by
subtracting the volume or area of the
`missing' piece from those of the whole
figure.
