  5. until needed for use. Pre 19th century
  6. furniture was hand made and expensive so 
  7. most families had very little, often just a 
  8. table with stools or benches to sit on.
  9. Storing their clothing in a chest and 
  10. probably sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
