  1. Pact from 1882 between Germany,
  2. Austria-Hungary, and Italy to offset the
  3. power of Russia and France. It was last
  4. renewed 1912, but during World War I Italy's
  5. initial neutrality gradually changed and it
  6. denounced the alliance 1915. The term also
  7. refers to other alliances: 1668 - England,
  8. Holland, and Sweden; 1717 - Britain, Holland,
  9. and France (joined 1718 by Austria); 1788 -
  10. Britain, Prussia, and Holland; 1795 -
  11. Britain, Russia, and Austria.
