  1. Chemistry is a science concerned with the 
  2. composition of matter (gas, liquid, or solid)
  3. and of the changes that take place in it 
  4. under certain conditions. Solids, liquids and
  5. gases are composed of minute particles termed
  6. molecules, which are constantly moving, and 
  7. may be further divided into atoms. Molecules 
  8. that contain atoms of one kind only are known
  9. as elements. Chemical compounds are produced 
  10. by a chemical action that alters the 
  11. arrangement of the atoms in the reacting 
  12. molecules. When substances are brought 
  13. together without changing their molecular 
  14. structures they are said to be mixtures.
