Convulsion is a series of violent
contractions of the muscles over which the
patient has no control. It may be associated
with loss of consciousness. Convulsions may
arise from any one of a number of causes,
including brain disease (such as epilepsy),
injury, high fever, poisoning, and
electrocution.
