  27.     EDDY requires MS-DOS 2.0 or newer, and uses about 180 KB memory.

  29.     The complete EDDY package includes the following files:

  31.     1. EDDYREAD.ME - This file
  32.     2. EDDY.COM - The main program
  33.     3. EDDY.AUX - Overlays for LOOK, Update, HELP, and menus
  34.     4. EDDY.USE - Sample file to illustrate Point-and-Shoot commands
  35.     5. EDDY.DOC - User's Manual (ASCII text, 59 lines max. per page)
  36.     6. EDDY_HST.DOC - History of changes, by version
  37.     7. DISTRIB.DOC - Conditions for commercial distribution of EDDY
  38.     8. FILE_ID.DIZ - Text description for posting on BBSs
  39.     9. REGISTER.BAT - Batch file to print the registration form for EDDY

  41.     The EDDY files distributed in either of two packages:
  42.  
  43.         Package 1 contains all files in ready-to-use form.  About 540 KB
  44.         disk space required, including documentation files.
  45.  
  46.         Package 2 has the the User's Manual, "EDDY.DOC", stored as a
  47.         compressed, self-extracting file, EDDY_DOC.EXE, created using the
  48.         compression utility LHA, Copyright Haruyasu Yoshizaki.  EDDY.DOC
  49.         will occupy about 260 KB of disk space when decompressed.
  50.  
  51.     Package 2 is used for distributing EDDY on 360 KB, 5-1/4" disks.
  52.     All other distributions use package format 1.

  54.     Installation
  55.     ------------
  56.  
  57.     1.  Copy all files to the disk/directory you'll use to execute EDDY.  If
  58.         one of the files you just copied was EDDY.DOC, the installation is
  59.         now complete.

  61.         Note: Three of the files in the package -- DISTRIB.DOC, FILE_ID.DIZ
  62.         and REGISTER.BAT -- may overwrite files already on your disk from
  63.         other products, so you may want to put EDDY in its own directory.
  64.         Alternatively, copy "EDDY*.*" rather than "*.*" -- but if you do
  65.         this, please don't forget that REGISTER.BAT is waiting to be used!

  67.     2.  If your set of files includes the file EDDY_DOC.EXE, you have the
  68.         EDDY distribution package 2.  If you have a hard disk, just type
  69.         EDDY_DOC and [Enter] to decompress the User's Manual.

  71.         The decompressed EDDY.DOC file won't fit on one 360K floppy if that
  72.         floppy also contains the other EDDY files. If your system has no
  73.         hard drive, but two floppy drives:
  74.  
  75.         a. Copy EDDY_DOC.EXE to a separate, blank, formatted diskette (say,
  76.            in drive A:).
  77.  
  78.         b. Place another blank, formatted diskette in drive B:, and make
  79.            B: the DOS default drive.
  80.  
  81.         b. To decompress the User's Manual (in the EDDY.DOC file), execute
  82.            EDDY_DOC from drive A:.  This will decompress the User's Manual
  83.            Manual, requiring about 260 KB of space on drive B:.

  85.     Once EDDY is installed, the simplest way to get familiar with it is to
  86.     just type "EDDY" and [Enter].  Menus and context-sensitive HELP are
  87.     available as needed.

  93.     Near the beginning of the file "EDDY.DOC", you will find a complete
  94.     disclaimer of responsibility for anything that EDDY may or may not do.
  95.     Please read that information carefully.

  97.     EDDY is shareware.  It is not free, and it is not in the public domain.
  98.     If you find EDDY to be useful and satisfactory after a reasonable trial
  99.     period, and you continue to use EDDY, you should register your copy
  100.     ("reasonable" means something on the order of 30 days trial use).

  102.     To register, you may use the form provided by PRINTing the last page of
  103.     the file EDDY.DOC, or by running the "REGISTER.BAT" file; both methods
  104.     produce the same form (on most printers).
