Version History of While You Were Out
-------------------------------------
Version 3.2 - Added a new Caller Lookup feature for recalling frequent
caller data while creating a new message.
Added a message log feature for logging all sent messages
to the file WYWO.LOG in the Windows directory.
Added an "always on top" feature for the new message
notification message box.
WYWO's message notification box now does live updates when
it is displayed and more new messages have arrived.
Version 3.12 - Fixed bug in 3.11 where user 0000 would show up twice
when selecting a new user for reading messages.
Version 3.11 - Added ability to use enter key while editing message field
of a message being read making the Escape key take over the
role of accepting the changes.
Only the default user has the ability now to delete new and
old messages to guarantee that other users reading the default
user's messages cannot delete them or cause new messages to
be transferred to old messages until the default user has
read them.
Added accelerator keys for read mode for accessing pop-up
menus for fields.
When default group is changed in WYWO options screen, the
default user list is filled with users who are members of
the newly selected group.
Fixed problem when printing that caused printer settings to
sometimes be different that those selected under printer
setup.
Version 3.1 - Added DDE capability.
Forced new messages to be displayed in the order they were
received (usually by date and time).
Retained data in a message currently being composed when read
mode is entered and exited.
Added Import of user names in WSETUP from an ASCII file.
Fixed bug where input focus is lost after restoring WYWO icon.
Fixed bug where user could not tab out of message field once
tabbing to it.
Fixed WywoPath entry not working correctly with WYWO program.
Fixed bug in WSETUP importing users from a text file with no
carriage return on the last line.
Fixed bug in WSETUP when deleting a group then modifying another
group would UAE or display incorrect data.
Put the name of the group in the To field when sending messages
to a group.
Version 3.06 - Added WywoPath entry in WYWO.INI [While You Were Out] section
giving the ability run WSETUP from a secure location or non-
network drive. WYWO and WMONITOR will also use this path.
Fixed problem with date field display for long date formats.
Version 3.05 - Added ability for WYWO icon or caption bar to blink when user
has messages waiting to be read.
Added a Wywo Notification sound event, WYWO.WAV, for Windows 3.1
sound drivers.
Version 3.04 - Fixed problem of WYWO aborting when trying to delete a message
that does not exist.
Fixed problem of forwarding WYWO thinking a message was
modified when a message is forwarded.
Fixed problem of being able to enter more text than is allowed
per field when editing a new or old message.
Fixed problem of printing outside of the message sheet when
the selected font is too large.
Fixed problem of message position when printing more than four
messages to a Postscript printer.
Fixed WMONITOR's Rack display which wasn't complete when
scrolling through users.
Version 3.03 - Fixed problem of underlines appearing in fields where the '&'
character should be for WSETUP and WYWO.
Fixed problem in WSETUP where if maximum user count is reached,
no more message types could be added.
Version 3.02 - Enhanced Print capabilities by graphically printing messages
to look like actual While You Were Out message sheets including
selectable fonts (including Script) and printers. Also added
ability to print one message, all new messages, all old messages,
or all messages as a result of a search operation. Prints up to
four messages per page.
Version 3.01 - Allowed date and time formats for WYWO to reflect international
settings from Windows.
Added ability to have added to the WIN.INI Load= line when WYWO
is first run.
Internal speed enhancements for saving new messages.
Version 3.0 - Moved the Options function to an Options button available in
edit mode.
Added the ability to edit messages that have been read, new
or old.
Added the ability to search through old messages and through
messages satisfying a previous search criteria.
Added the ability to forward a message.
Added User Groups to all programs reducing the number of users
that will be viewed in WYWO and WMONITOR.
Added ability to send or forward messages to a User Group which
will send a message to every user belonging to that group.
Added popup menu support for most main functions through the
use of the right mouse button.
Added a WVERSION.DLL file for controlling the number of users
and combined features of WYWO, WSETUP, and WMONITOR.
Fixed bug of WSETUP not deleting files and directories of
deleted users.
Version 2.22 - Added ability to be notified of new messages while reading
new and old messages.
When WYWO is run from WMONITOR, any new messages read will
remain as new messages until the message is read without being
run from WMONITOR. Also, Read Mode is entered automatically
once WYWO is launched from WMONITOR.
Version 2.21 - Fixed bug with delete key not working in edit mode and causing
an error opening a file.
Fixed bug with message field not getting cleared on entering
read mode.
Fixed bug with time and date fields in edit mode not displaying
the current time.
Fixed bug with modifying existing message types in WSETUP.
Fixed bug with '&' characters being dissapearing and causing
the following character to have an underscore when reading
messages.
Fixed bug with user being notified of a new message while
entering a read password.
Fixed bug in WMONITOR with the Message Rack scrollbar being
displayed if more than four users have messages and the mode
is switched to the Message Board.
If entering read mode and no new messages exist, the first
old messages will automatically be displayed it exists.
If the current user has a read password, it must be entered each
time read mode is entered.
Added ability to use the up and down arrow keys to move between
edit fields in edit mode.
Allowed the RETURN key to be used as a carriage return in the
message field instead of requiring the ALT key to be pressed.
When the Default User is changed, new messages for that user
will immediately be checked.
Forced the WYWO.HLP file to be in the same directory as the
WYWO.EXE.
Improved performance when flagging old messages to be deleted.
Version 2.2 - Removed restriction of not informing user of new messages
if that user send a message to himself. This can be
accomplished by setting the New Message Delay Time to 0 (off).
The Default User in the Options menu now sets the default user
of the current execution of WYWO. The User function will
allow messages from other users to be read, but once read
mode is exited the default user becomes the current user.
Added option for New Message Notification Message Box to
be require a response so the message would have to be answered
before continuing with other programs.
Added a focus identification to all of the WYWO programs
for the Listboxes and Combo Boxes to identify when they
have the input focus.
Fixed a bug that would not delete old messages if the user
had over 80 messages on file.
Version 2.12 - Fixed New Message Delay Time = 0(Off) bug which did not
disable the new message alarm when WYWO was loaded with
a delay time of 0, only when it was changed from the options
screen.
Fixed WSETUP bug of not being able to use the tab key to
move to the username listbox.
Added keyboard shortcut keys for all buttons in both WSETUP
and WMONITOR that can be accessed with the ALT key.
If WYWO is launched from WMONITOR and the Exit button is
pressed, WYWO will exit completely and not be minimized.
If WSETUP is closed from the system menu and users have been
added or deleted, the user will be asked if he/she would like
to save the changes.
All WYWO Message Types are now created and modified by the
WSETUP program and stored in a WMSGTYPE.DAT file in the WYWO
directory so they are now defined on a global scale instead
of for each individual user. The User Message types have
been taken out of WYWO Options and the WYWO.INI file.
Added an Exit button for WSETUP. The Save button will now
save either the user names or message types depending on the
screen being displayed and will not exit the program.
If WYWO and/or WMONITOR are running when WSETUP is saving
data, they will be updated to reflect the changes made in
WSETUP.
All functions in WYWO, WSETUP, and WMONITOR are now
completely usable without a mouse.
Version 2.11 - WYWO will no longer cause Windows to display a device error
message box when the drive WYWO is on is unavailable when
checking for new messages.
Fixed moving message filed bug when changing users while
reading messages in WYWO.EXE.
Fixed bug in WMONITOR that wouldn't allow the minimized icon
to be restored to normal size.
Version 2.1 - Took all options out of WIN.INI and placed them in WYWO.INI.
WYWO now comes in 20, 50, and 100 user versions.
General internal changes to both WYWO and WSETUP to improve
performance and functionality.
Allows multiple copies of WYWO to be running, but only with
different users.
Enhanced WSETUP to have the general look of the WYWO program.
Added a Cancel option to the WSETUP program. You must use the
Save button to actually save any new users and to delete old
users and files.
Eliminated the Path option for the INI file. Wywo will load
the WYWO.DAT file from the directory it finds WYWO.EXE and
WSETUP.EXE.
Increase the size of the message data to 300 characters and
made the message field scrollable to accomodate the new size.
This requires the execution of the WCONVERT program to convert
all old and new messages on the system. Run WCONVERT from the
WYWO directory.
If only one user exists, that user becomes the default To:
user for sending messages.
If WYWO is minimized and the user has new messages waiting to
be read, the caption on the icon will display the number of
new messages waiting.
Allowed movement among input fields by use of the Enter or
Return key for quicker data entry.
Added a new Operator field. If no operator is entered, the
current user's name is placed in this field.
Added a Wywo Options screen. Accessed from the Help menu after
clicking on the Help button.
Options:
A Default User can be selected.
User defined message actions can now be added to the
existing message types (ie. Telephoned, Urgent,
Will Call Back, Etc.).
New Message Alarm Time determines how often (0 to 60 seconds)
WYWO will look for new messages sent to the default user.
Added an option for the Save function that determines how
message info is saved to the clipboard, printer or to file:
Specify whether headings (ie. To, From, Date, Time, etc) are
included with the message.
Added WMONITOR.EXE, a Wywo Message monitor which will display
all users who have new messages waiting and the number of
messages. WMONITOR will check for new messages every 30 seconds
to give up-to-the-minute results.
If WMONITOR is running and a new message is sent from WYWO,
WYWO will immediately notify WMONITOR to update it's new
message display.
WYWO, WSETUP, and WMONITOR have been fixed to eliminate the
problem of a disappearing icon when more than one is running
or when other programs start uing WYWO's icon or vice-versa.
Version 2.01 - The Exit button will now minimize WYWO and return to the Edit
mode instead of completely exiting the program. Exiting the
program can be accomplished by double-clicking the closer box
of WYWO or selecting Close from the System Menu.
If sending a message you oneself, WYWO will not bring up the
"New Messages" information.
Fixed uppercase only message type for "Called To See You" while
in read mode.
