  30. Thank you for your interest in Snooper, the System Checker!  This
  31. handy system information utility reports many operating
  32. characteristics of your computer.  Snooper tells you all about your
  33. computer's memory, ports, mouse, disks, network, modems, and much
  34. more.  It can run in batch mode, write a log file, and automatically
  35. configures itself for Desqview, and color or monochrome video cards.

  38.                              REQUIREMENTS
  39.  
  40. You may want to postpone reading the rest of this manual to run
  41. Snooper.  Go ahead!  Snooper doesn't change your computer except to
  42. write a log file if you ask it to.  Here are its requirements:
  43.  
  44.  * IBM PC or compatible computer
  45.  * 128K RAM
  46.  * DOS 2 or higher
  47.  * a video card
  48.  
  49. In short, Snooper should run on your computer.

  52.                                OPERATION
  53.  
  54. Make sure Snooper is in your current directory or on your path.
  55.  
  56.       TO DO THIS:                     TYPE THIS FROM DOS PROMPT:
  57. Print Snooper's manual             copy snooper.doc prn <Enter>
  58. Run Snooper                        snooper <Enter>
  59.  
  60.       TO DO THIS:                     TYPE THIS FROM INSIDE SNOOPER:
  61. View Advanced Diagnostics screen   <Alt-D>
  62. Edit CONFIG.SYS                    <Alt-C>
  63. Edit AUTOEXEC.BAT                  <Alt-A>
  64. Log the display to a file          <Alt-L>
  65. View Snooper's help screens        <F1>, then <PgUp> and <PgDn>
  66. Register Snooper                   <F1>, then <R>
  67. Exit Snooper                       <Esc>

  69. Please read the manual.  It explains how to use Snooper's advanced
  70. features, such as the SNOOPER environment variable and file logging. 
  71. You may even get a chuckle out of it.  The manual is around fifty
  72. pages long so be sure you have enough paper before you start printing.
