  13. New Drill speed and feed function.  Get all details of speeds
  14. and feeds for HSS drills in any type of material!  Details 
  15. show Brinnel and Rockwell comparisons, inches per minute,
  16. feet per minute, chip load, and all max. and min. figures.
  17.  
  18. Most shops use to slow of speeds and feeds for mills and drills.
  19. Use Mr. Machinist and get up to speed!  High speeds and feeds
  20. seem un-natural to the average machinist but not to the tool! 
  21.  
  22. There has been additions to the help file and dialog boxes are
  23. being fine tuned to get 'out of the way' of menus.  There is still
  24. some fine tuning to do and the manual has to be completed.

  26. Some answer dialog boxes are large and will soon be made smaller
  27. but not sick looking.  Not all answers to all functions go to the
  28. answer file yet, this will be fixed very shortly.

  30. Remember, this is a Beta version and not a final release.  This
  31. program is unlike any other.  A $10.000 CAM program can't do
  32. many things that Mr. Machinist can do.  This is no where near
  33. a CAM program but for the price...well, see for yourself!

  38. Mr. Machinist is a math program for CNC programmers, engineers,
  39. and machinist. It can calculate the chord of a circle, do trig.
  40. conversions to/from English and metric, edit machine files, get
  41. three points on a circle, middle of two points, calculate the
  42. proper speed and feed for mills and drills, etc., etc.
  43.  
  44. A users manual has not been completed for Mr. Machinist yet
  45. but is in the process. The help file is context sensative so
  46. help is always at your finger tips. Some users have not seen
  47. this type of interface and have trouble inputing data. Use
  48. the 'Tab' key to enter in to the input lines for data input.
  49. In some cases the 'Enter' key will cycle you through the
  50. dialog box. After all data is input you can keep striking
  51. the 'Enter' key until your in the 'OK' box and then the
  52. 'Enter' key will execute the function.
  53.  
  54. The 'Tab' key will also cycle you through the dialog box and
  55. if you hold down 'Shift' while you strike 'Tab' you will cycle
  56. through the dialog box in the other direction.  The 'Enter' 
  57. key or the 'arrow' keys will also help you through certain
  58. dialog boxes.  The Tab key is probably the most important 
  59. key in Mr. Machinist so keep that in mind!

  61. When ever your troubled about a mathematical term or
  62. questioning data entry, just strike F1 and there's your
  63. answer. Every thing is in plain laymans terms! When you
  64. receive an error message you don't see something like,
  65. "BIOS RAM ROM Overflow at HEX F84", all math function
  66. error messages tell you the problem in plain English!
  67.  
  68. The help file is ever growing and the editor is a universal
  69. one. If you have trouble with the editor or are just finding
  70. it hard to get around,  getting familiar with DOS version 5+
  71. editor or the DOS shell will help to become familiar with
  72. Mr. Machinist.
  73.  
  74. One important aspect of Mr. Machinist is its ability to save
  75. all answers during the current session to a file on the drive.
  76. You may print the file at any time by striking 'Ctrl-P' and you
  77. can view the answer file by striking 'Ctrl-A'.  As every new
  78. session starts, the MRMSOLVE.TXT file, which is the answer file,
  79. is created and it's deleted when you finish the program.

  81. There are two other files that are created as soon as you
  82. choose there related functions.  Drill speeds and feeds and
  83. bolt circle calculations.  These two files are MRMDRILL.TXT
  84. and MRMBOLT.TXT.  You can view and print these at any time:
  85.  
  86. 'Ctrl-D' = View the drill file if it exists.
  87. 'Ctrl-T' = Print the drill file if it exists.
  88. 'Ctrl-B' = View the bolt circle file if it exists.
  89. 'Ctrl-O' = Print the bolt circle file if it exists.

  91. One example of the use of the answer file is in the conversion of a
  92. metric print.  Usually you sit down with a metric print and
  93. convert it to inches sometimes writing all over the print and
  94. constantly inputing 25.4 or .03937 into your little calculator.
  95. Mr. Machinist is the fastest gun in the west at this stuff, check
  96. this out:

  98. Go into the math menu by holding down the 'Alt' key and then striking
  99. 'M'.  Now go down to conversions and strike 'Enter'.  The conversion
  100. dialog box comes up with a 'radio button' on mm to inches ready to go!
  101. Let's input a few make believe numbers... 3.2, .034, 1.2 or what ever.
  102. Just go nuts and input about 10 or 15 metric numbers.  Keep in mind
  103. that you must strike 'Enter' TWICE after each input.  You will see the
  104. answers under the input line for each input but when the next input
  105. gets entered you don't see the last one.  When your done hit the
  106. 'Esc' key and then hold down the 'Ctrl' key and strike 'A'.  There
  107. ya go.  You are viewing the answer file.  Now strike 'Ctrl-P' and
  108. you will print what you did.  Attach this to your print and things
  109. may be much more legible.

  112. To install the program:

  115. Copy MRM.EXE and MRMHELP.HLP to a directory on your hard drive.
  116. You may create a new directory or copy these two files to an
  117. existing directory. If you prefer to run Mr. Machinist from the
  118. disk then you can type MRM to activate the program from the
  119. disk but it is highly recommended to run it from the hard drive.

  121. Make sure that both of these files are in the same directory.
  122. If these files are not in the same directory, MRM.EXE will
  123. look for MRMHELP.HLP and when it does not find it in the same
  124. directory it will display an error saying that it can not
  125. find the help file. The program will still run but will not
  126. have a help file.

  128. To execute the program, type MRM.
  129.  
  130. Here is an example of the DOS commands used to install
  131. Mr. Machinist. This example assumes you have the program
  132. disk in your A drive!

  137. C:                    Puts you on the C drive. (Hard drive)
  138. CD\                   Change directory to your root directory.
  139. MD MRM                Makes a directory called MRM.
  140. CD MRM                Change directory to MRM.
  141. COPY A:*.*            Copies all files from disk in A drive to C.
  142. MRM                   Starts the Mr. Machinist program!!!

  144. You will have to get into the MRM directory every time you want
  145. to run Mr. Machinist unless you put the MRM directory in your
  146. path statement. Look up the PATH statement in your DOS manual
  147. for more information.

  153. The following information describes the Mr. Machinist
  154. registration fee on ONE computer only:

  156. Send $50.00 as a registration fee for the Beta version and
  157. you will be considered a registered user of version one when
  158. it is released.  Version one will be sent to you upon completion.
  159. You will also be sent the latest beta versions until the completion
  160. of version one.

  162. A users manual with tutorials will accompany version 1.0

  168. The following information describes the Mr. Machinist
  169. registration fees for use on more than one computer:

  171. Site licenses are available for Mr. Machinist.  A site license
  172. is needed if Mr. Machinist will be used on more than one
  173. computer.  The rates of these licenses are as follows:

  206. New functions are being entered in the program just
  207. about every day...until version one!

  210. there password.  Feel free to call the BBS and leave hints,
  211. comments, FORMULAS for future releases, etc.  Also, keep
  212. an eye on the Mr. Machinist BBS for a file called MRMTUT.TXT.
  213. This will be a tutorial that will take a user through most of
  214. the functions of MRM.
