| 1. HOW TO PERFORM AN CM AUTO-TRACE |

| Follow these steps to use Communications Manager's menu
| interface to AUTO-TRACE the problem being reported.
|
| 1. From the Communications Manager (CM) Main Menu,
| select the ADVANCED pull-down.
| 2. From the pull-down menu, select PROBLEM DETERMINATION
| AIDS.
| 3. From the Problem Determination Aids Menu, select
| TRACE SERVICES.
| 4. From the Trace Services Menu, select AUTO-TRACE
| SERVICES.
| 5. From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select SELECT
| AND STORE AUTO-TRACES.
| 6. From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select TRACE
| SELECTIONS with the space bar.
| 7. From the Trace Selections Menu, select each API's
| and/or DLC's (Data), requested by the L2 SPECIALIST
| with the space bar. After all selections are made
| press ENTER.
| 8. From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select SELECT
| AND STORE AUTO-TRACES.
| 9. From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select ADVANCED
| TRACE SELECTIONS with the space bar.
| 10. From the Advanced Trace Selections Menu, select
| each EVENTS, requested by the L2 SPECIALIST, with the
| space bar After all selections are made press ENTER.
| 11. From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select TRACE
| STORAGE SIZE.
| 12. Set the Trace storage size to 16 x 64 and press
| ENTER.
| 13. From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select ENABLE
| AUTO-TRACES and press ENTER.
| 14. Press ESC to Exit the Auto-trace Services Menu
| and continue pressing ESC until you are returned
| to the CM Main Menu.
| 15. From the CM Main Menu, select the EXIT pulldown
| and EXIT CM.
| 16. From and OS/2 WINDOW, erase ERROR.DAT and
| MESSAGE.DAT from C: CMLIB sub-directory.
| 17. Start CM and recreate the problem.
| 18. Repeat steps 1-4.
| 19. From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select DISABLE
| AUTO-TRACES and press ENTER.
| 20. Press ESC to Exit the Auto-trace Services Menu.
| 21. From the Trace Services Menu, select STOP TRACE,
| COPY STORAGE TO TRACE FILE and name the trace file
| your "pmr number".TRC.

| 2. HOW TO PERFORM A NORMAL CM TRACE |

|Follow these steps when running a NORMAL CM trace.
|
| 1. From the CM Main Menu, select the EXIT pulldown
| and EXIT CM. Using an OS/2 WINDOW, erase ERROR.DAT
| and MESSAGE.DAT from the CMLIB sub-directory.
| 2. Start CM.
| 3. From the Communications Manager (CM) Main Menu,
| select the ADVANCED pull-down.
| 4. From the pull-down menu, select PROBLEM DETERMINATION
| AIDS.
| 5. From the Problem Determination Aids Menu, select
| TRACE SERVICES.
| 6. From the Trace Service Menu, select Select traces.
| 7. From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select
| Trace Selections.
| 8. From the Trace Selections Menu, select each API's
| and/or DLC's (Data), requested by the L2 SPECIALIST
| with the space bar. After all selections are made
| press ENTER.
| 9. From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select Advanced
| Trace Selection with the space bar.
| 10. From the Advanced Trace Selection Menu, select
| EVENTS, requested by the L2 SPECIALIST, with the space
| bar. After all selections are made press ENTER.
| 11. From the Trace Services Menu, select Trace
| storage size.
| 12. From the Trace Services Menu, select Start
| Selected traces.
| 13. With the trace running recreate the problem.
| 14. From the Trace Services Menu, select Stop traces,
| Copy storage trace to file and name the trace file
| your "pmr number".TRC.
