in the program documentation.
LANVIEW is part of the new generation of utilities started by
McAfee Associates with PRO-VIEW(tm) and PRO-VIEW for Windows(tm).
LANVIEW allows you to perform PRO-VIEW's unique low-level
system functions over remote workstations on a network.
HOW IT WORKS
To allow LANVIEW to access workstations, install LVREMOTE on
each workstation. LVREMOTE is a memory resident (TSR) program
which acts as an interface between workstations and LANVIEW.
LANVIEW and LVREMOTE can be run on any IBM PC or compatible
computer which uses the IPX/SPX protocol, such as Novell NetWare.
NOTE: LVREMOTE and LANVIEW should NOT be installed on
the same workstation.
To start LVREMOTE type:
LVREMOTE
at the DOS prompt. LVREMOTE will then be installed in the
computer's memory.
LVREMOTE has following options:
/Nxxx - Sets workstation name to "xxx"; where "xxx" is any
combination of alphanumeric symbols no more than 32
characters long.
NOTE: The LVREMOTE name option does not change any of
the workstation's existing names or addresses
and is only used to identify the workstation
while LANVIEW is active.
/Pxxx - Sets workstation access password to "xxx"; where "xxx"
is any combination of alphanumeric symbols no more than
32 characters long.
/U - Unload LVREMOTE from memory.
/+ - Enable LVREMOTE (default option).
/- - Disable LVREMOTE but remain resident in memory
/? - Show command-line options.
To start LANVIEW type:
LV
at the command prompt. This will start LANVIEW.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHORS:
Dear User,
This release of the LANVIEW is purely experimental; we have no idea
how useful or powerful this tool will be, or even how dangerous. We
only know that LANVIEW represents a new concept in network computing
and can be used to accomplish many things.
So, please feel free to experiment with LANVIEW and give us your
feedback on in.
IMPORTANT: This version of the LANVIEW has all the edit routines
disabled. We think this is a good idea, at least for this
experimental release. So, don't be afraid about possible
data loss, LANVIEW WILL NOT WRITE TO YOUR COMPUTERS' DISKS
OR MEMORY.
All questions, suggestions, comments and complaints are greatly
appreciated and cheerfully accepted. Please feel free to contact the
authors directly:
